The Baix Empordà is the comarca at the heart of the Costa Brava, with La Bisbal d'Empordà as its capital: coastal towns, medieval villages, rice fields and the Gavarres hills, all within an hour's drive.

About 145,000 people live in the Baix Empordà, spread over 36 municipalities and some 700 square kilometres. The coast runs from l'Estartit down to Sant Feliu de Guíxols, and almost every town we sell in lies within it, from Begur and Palafrugell to Calonge and Platja d'Aro.
What sets it apart is that the inland is as much a reason to live here as the sea. Behind the coast lie stone villages, farmland and the wooded Gavarres, so a house a few kilometres inland can give you more land and more quiet while the beach stays close. Wherever the house is, we can look after it while you are away.
The choice of houses is correspondingly wide: apartments and villas on the coast, houses in the urbanisations behind it, and farmhouses and village houses that need renovation further inland.

People have lived here for a very long time. At Ullastret the Iberians built a town in the sixth century before Christ, and its remains and museum can be visited. Medieval villages such as Peratallada, protected as a historic ensemble since 1975, still keep their castles, walls and narrow streets.
The landscape is a plain formed by the lower Ter and the Daró, framed by the Gavarres, the Montgrí and the hills of Begur. Rice was grown along both rivers until the middle of the twentieth century, and it is still grown around Pals. On the coast, Palamós and Sant Feliu de Guíxols grew as ports.

Come and see it with someone who lives here. We will show you the parts of the Baix Empordà that suit what you are after, and say so when something does not.
