Garden maintenance
We look after the gardens of second homes on the Costa Brava all year round: pruning, irrigation, lawns and clearing, on a schedule agreed with you.
What it covers
A well-kept garden, also when you are away
Gardens here grow fast in spring and dry out quickly in summer. If nobody looks after them for a few months, you arrive to overgrown hedges, a brown lawn or plants lost to a broken irrigation system.
Our gardeners visit your garden on a regular schedule. They prune, mow, weed and check the irrigation, so the garden stays in good condition throughout the year.
We agree the frequency with you, based on the size of the garden, the planting and how often you use the house. If the house is rented out, we plan the visits around the arrivals of your guests.

Lawn care
Mowing, edging and feeding the lawn, and honest advice when a lawn costs more water than it is worth.
Irrigation
Timers, drippers and sprinklers checked, leaks repaired and the watering adjusted to the season.
Weeding and clearing
Beds weeded, leaves and fallen branches removed, and paths and terraces swept.
Garden waste
Cuttings and garden waste taken away, so nothing is left piled up behind the house.
Planting and improvements
New plants, a redesigned border or a switch to plants that need less water, always with a quote first.

On the Costa Brava
The garden through the year
- Spring
- The busiest season. Everything grows at the same time, so this is when pruning, feeding and a first check of the irrigation matter most.
- Summer
- Heat and little rain. The irrigation has to work properly, and lawns and new plants need the most attention.
- Autumn
- The right time to prune many shrubs, clear fallen leaves and prepare the garden for winter.
- Winter
- A quieter period for the garden, and a good moment for larger jobs such as new planting or redesigning part of the garden.
- Water restrictions
- Catalonia has restricted garden watering during droughts in recent years. We follow the rules in force in your municipality and tell you what they mean for your garden.
- Pine processionary caterpillars
- In areas with pines, the nests of the processionary caterpillar appear in winter. The caterpillars are a risk for children and dogs, so we point the nests out when we see them.
Good to know
Questions about garden maintenance
How often do you come?
That depends on the garden and the season. A small garden or terrace may need one visit a month. A large garden with a lawn and hedges usually needs a visit every week or two in spring and summer.
Do I need to be there?
No. Most owners are abroad. We need access to the garden and, if there is one, to the irrigation controller. If we hold your keys, that is easy to arrange.
Can you look after the garden while the house is rented out?
Yes. We plan the visits around the changeovers, so the garden looks good when guests arrive and they are not disturbed during their stay.
What if the irrigation breaks down?
Small repairs, such as a leaking pipe or a blocked dripper, we fix during the visit. For larger repairs you receive a quote first.
Do you also do one-off jobs?
Yes, for example a thorough clear-up after a period without maintenance, or before the house is sold. Tell us what you need and we will give you a price.
Can I combine garden maintenance with other services?
Yes. Many owners combine it with pool maintenance, key holding or cleaning, so they have one contact for the whole house.
