About the company and its journey
- You've been with the company for many years, you're practically part of its DNA. How do you remember your first days here?
As a builder, I was hired to carry out a renovation, after which I was contracted to supervise other projects.
- What has been the most challenging project you've worked on and why?
Every project is a challenge. When it involves modifying foundations and structures, it becomes more complex.
- You've seen the company grow and have surely witnessed many changes. What evolution would you highlight?
Construction, like everything, evolves continuously. I would highlight the company's strong interest in staying at the forefront of different construction systems and continuously adapting to new technologies such as renewable energies, insulation, resource optimization, etc.
- If you had to define the essence of the company in one word, what would it be and why?
"Quality." We execute all works with the highest level of perfection. This means always using the right and best-quality materials.
- What do you think makes this company special?
We make dreams come true. Any project, no matter how challenging, we carry out at Quality Estates. I always say that everything is possible, no matter how complex.
Experience and learnings
- What is the most valuable thing you’ve learned over the years?
I've been a builder for over 40 years, and still, I learn something every day. Staying up-to-date is essential in this sector.
- What has been the biggest challenge in your career?
Constant adaptation to new construction systems and materials.
- Have you ever thought about giving up? What made you keep going?
Never. Construction is a demanding field, with a lot of pressure and high levels of responsibility. However, my commitment to my work and the satisfaction of seeing successful completed projects have always motivated me to keep going.
- If you could give advice to the young man who started at this company years ago, what would you tell him?
Learn, learn, and learn. Making mistakes is part of the process, but the important thing is to recognize them, analyze them, and learn from them. Experience is the best teacher.
- How do you think the construction sector has changed from when you started to today?
Construction is constantly evolving. Every year new materials, innovative techniques, and better ways of working emerge. Adapting and learning is key to moving forward.
Relationships and anecdotes
- Do you remember any funny or curious anecdote that happened on a site?
Yes, one day I went around all the sites, as usual, and there was no one working. It was a public holiday.
- What is the relationship like with your team? Do they see you more as a boss or a colleague?
The relationship is based on mutual respect, and we have a lot of communication. Rather than a colleague, they see me as a leader. My position involves responsibilities and decision-making, but I always try to maintain open and close communication.
- Has anyone left a special mark on your professional life over the years?
Yes, some professionals, architects, and site managers have passed on a lot of knowledge to me over these 40 years, which makes my day-to-day much easier.
- What has been the best recognition you've received in the company?
The complete trust of everyone is the best recognition.
A personal and fun touch
- If you had to build your dream house, what would it be like?
I don't have to build it, it already exists. Somewhere there's a small farmhouse with a bit of land for a vegetable garden and fruit trees waiting for me.
- Are you one of those who still enjoy looking at construction sites, or do you not even look at them in your free time?
There are admirable constructions, both old and modern, that I love to examine in detail. I don’t think this passion will ever go away—it’s a professional inclination.
- Do you have any quirks or rituals before starting a construction project?
Yes, I always toss a coin when the first concrete is poured. It’s a personal tradition and, in a way, symbolic. In every Quality Estates project, there’s one of my coins hidden.
- If your job were a movie, what title would you give it?
Toy Story. To infinity and beyond. I’d be Buzz Lightyear.
- What has been the craziest or most unexpected moment you've experienced on a site?
Hours before delivering a project, working with 15 or 16 workers to finalise the details. I'm not going to say the client's name.
Future and farewell
- What motivates you to keep coming to work every day with the same passion?
The passion itself. Not everyone can say they work in something they truly love. In my case, I enjoy what I do every day, so it never feels like an obligation.
- How do you imagine the company in 10 years?
Growing, always evolving and improving, as we have done so far.
- Is there any dream or professional goal you’d still like to achieve?
Yes, I’d love to work on the restoration of old farmhouses and historical buildings. It’s a fascinating field.
- What would you say to someone who wants to start in the construction world?
Commit to your work, keep learning, and have a strong drive to improve.
- To wrap up, if you could leave a message for future generations of workers at this company, what would it be?
"Follow your dream." If you enjoy what you do, it stops being a job and becomes a passion.
